How to clean computer?

Abstract:
Always, your slow computer might not due to the low configuration of your computer, but because you haven’t cleaned computer for a while. You can clean computer by yourself or use a PC cleaner for help. The reason why computer becomes slower and slower could be dumped unused files, invalid registry key, etc. In this article, we will explain the purpose of cleaning computer firstly and then we will provide you with some methods to clean computer.

What is the purpose of cleaning computer?
Many people do not know why they should clean computer. Computers always become slower and slower after a period of usage. There are several reasons:
1. Maybe there are so many background programs running that causes lack of memory for main programs.
2. Your hard drive could be too full of data to function efficiently.
3. Your computer could have a fragmented hard drive.

(1) Launch Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu, and then Internet Options.

2. Remove unused applications
When time passes by, more and more applications would be installed into your computer. The programs you aren’t using do consume resources and affect your PC’s performance. To remove programs, follow these instructions:
(1) Enter Control Panel.
(2) In Category View, click Add or Remove Programs, and then click Remove a program.
(3) Click a program you no longer need, click Change/Remove, and then follow the prompts to uninstall it.
3. Remove optional Windows components
You can clean computer and free up space by removing optional Windows components:
(1) Get into Control Panel.
(2) Also click Add or Remove Programs, and then Add a program.
(3) Click Add/Remove Windows Components on the left side of the menu.
(4) Follow the instructions in the Windows Components Wizard.
4. Modify System Restore data by Disk Cleanup
Windows XP provides the option to restore your PC to a previous state by automatically saving restore information. It takes up memory space. You can delete older restore information that you're sure you won't need in order to clean computer:
(1) Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, click Disk Cleanup in System Tools
(2) Click the More Options tab. Click Clean up in the System Restore area.
